Children and Youth Programs
Children’s Ministry at Asbury Methodist
Hi! My name is Kathy, and I’m the children’s coordinator at Asbury. One of our core values at Asbury it that we have a heart to make disciples of Jesus Christ, and nowhere is this more important than in how we disciple our children. It is such a privilege to get to serve the rising generation and raise up the leaders of the church. I’d love to invite you and your family to join us at Asbury in our children’s ministries. Children’s Worship
Children ages 4-5th grade are invited to participate in our children’s worship during our 9 and 11:15AM services, led by Kathy. Children will be brought back to the sanctuary to take communion at the end of the service.
Nursery
Our nursery is available during worship services for those parents who may choose to place their children there rather than keep them in the sanctuary. Amy Barker, our regular nursery attendant, along with some loving volunteers, will be in our nursery to care for children ages birth through 3 years old. The nursery is equipped with cribs and changing tables, child-sized bathroom, rocking chairs, appropriate toys, books, music, and videos, as well as clean bright play areas.
Sunday School
10:15-11AM: Our Sunday School classes for all ages are a key part of our children and youth discipleship. During Sunday school children learn stories and teachings from scripture, practical application for how to live out their faith, and they do this through learning storytelling, play, arts and crafts, music, and many other engaging, interactive ways of learning. Teachers’ names and pictures are posted outside each room so you will know exactly who will be caring for your child.
Children’s Events
Throughout the year various events are offered as a way to reach and serve children in the community. These events might include Easter Egg Hunts, Halloween Trunk or Treat, Easter Jam, Jingle Jame, and other seasonal events. Watch for more details about special offerings.
Child Safety Policy
Asbury follows a specific child safety policy from Ministry Safe. The basic tenets of Ministry Safe includes the following:
- Background checks – All paid or volunteer workers with children and youth must have criminal background checks
- Six Month waiting period – no volunteers may work with children or youth until they have been involved in the church for at least six months
- Two adult policy – Any group of children or youth must have two, unrelated adults with them at all times
- High Visibility – All rooms used for programming must have windows in doors or walls for public visibility

Youth Ministry at Asbury Methodist

Youth Group: Sundays from 5:00 to 7pm
Youth group is on Sunday afternoons from 5:00 to 7pm at the church, for youth in middle school and high school. We play games and have fun, but we also are very intentionally learning about Jesus and growing as disciples together. For more info reach out to Pastor Josiah at josiahstuhmer@gmail.com.
Youth Conferences and Mission Trips
Our youth group goes to youth conference and plans mission trips to provide our youth with different disciple-making experiences. Our hope is that through these kinds of experiences, our youth will not only grow closer with Christ, but will be equipped to learn how to invite others into a life with Jesus
