Mission Activities

Asbury church regularly has members in mission activities. From as close as Ida Spence Mission in Covington, KY to as far away as Haiti, Thailand, and Peru, members of Asbury’s family have gone to serve Christ in many parts of the world. Activities on mission trips range from constructing churches and homes to offering some medical services to working with children and youth to share the love of Jesus with them. New possibilities for mission involvement are developing now.

Harlan Mission Trip

The most recent mission trip Asbury participated in, was a trip down to Harlan, KY, on July 26th and 27th to give food away to the people in need in Harlan.

This mission was started 9 years ago when we heard about the people of Harlan not having enough food do to the coal mines being shut down and lack of jobs. Children were going to school hungry because it wasn’t their day to eat do to lack of food at home. Homes with no electric or running water.

Every year since, a group of volunteers from our church makes the trip to Harlan to give food away, provide a grill out meal and have games for the children to enjoy.

This mission was started not just to bring food but also hope to the people of Harlan Ky.

Just some details:

33 volunteers went to Harlan.
We helped 139 families which was 416 people.
This is a 20 percent increase from last year.

What a blessing to be the hands and feet of God!!!
